WebAperture was established sometime early 2000 by Jeffrey Chok and Eugene Khoo (or Eugene Khoo and Jeffrey Chok, depending on who you ask first :-)
WebAperture was created to be a central location on the Internet for photographers to showcase their photos and discuss photo techniques. Fellow members are encouraged to comment and give useful tips and criticisms to help others improve. WebAperture is also not backed by investors and venture capitalists requiring that we make a profit.
This means fewer ads and it's highly unlikely that we'll ever close our doors. This entire website is lovingly crafted by hand by two photographers who thought that they should give something back to the community from which they have and will continue to learn from. This also means that like a mom and pop grocery store, you'd get highly personalized service but also means that sometimes you'll see strange things happen on our site because we're also trying to make it a better place for everyone.
