All of our art design is done by our very dear friends, Lawrence and Laura Strauss of Strauss & Strauss (see www.straussandstrauss.com for more about them). We love their work and feel that they have very successfully captured the spirit of our recordings in the covers they design.
For We Delight, they created a look in which the Hebrew and English letters have a joyous feel, and just barely contain themselves to the space -- almost bursting with delight! The colors chosen (purple, blue, and scarlet on the cd itself) are taken from the colors used to decorate the biblical tabernacle. The overall effect was simple and joyful, just as we intended the music to be.
For HaMoedim, Lawrence painstakingly drew and colored thousands of tiny pieces on his computer to create the cover mosaic. We had mentioned to the Strausses that we believe that the holidays in the Levitical calendar come together much like a mosaic to create a complete picture. They researched ancient mosaics to get a color scheme that would be authentic to ancient Israel. We love the finished product!
