I love my job, I have been in the dental field since I was nineteen years old. I have experienced dentistry from many different perspectives during this time, and I have found my perfect career. I love solving my patients dental problems and giving them control over their dental treatment. Let me give you a short rundown of my dental career so far (dentistry is a continuing learning endevor). Working in a comercial dental laboratory for more than a year after graduating from High School, I decided to go to college to learn more. Graduating from Ferris State University in 1973 with a degree in Dental Laboratory Technology, I became a C.D.T. (Certified Dental Technician) in 1976. After working as a dental technician for many years, I decided to returned to school to become a dentist. In 1993, I graduated from the University of Michigan, School of Dentistry with a D.D.S. degree. Prior to becoming a dentist I received extensive experience and training in Prosthetic Dentistry (restorative dentistry) as a dental technician. I was the Chief Dental Technician at the University of Michigan Department of Graduate Prosthodontics. Dental Technicians fabricate dental appliances such as gold and porcelain crowns, bridges, partial dentures, full dentures and dental implant supported appliances. I am the founder of the Northland Dental Study Club, an organization that presents continuing dental education to area dentists and their staff members. I also hold memberships in the following associations; American Prosthodontic Society, American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, Saginaw Valley District Dental Society and Academy of General Dentistry. I am active in the West Branch Communtiy. Serving at the First United Methodist Church, the West Branch Chapter of the Optimist International Club, I volunteer as certified CPR instructer for the local chapter of the American Red Cross, and as member of the Ogemaw Hills Ski Council.
Prior to becoming a dentist, Dr. Mary Graduated from Northern Michigan University with a bachelor's degree in Water Science. She worked in the Water Science field in Michigan and Nevada. Dr. Mary returned to school in 1989, she graduated from the University of Michigan with a D.D.S. degree in 1993. Dr.Mary and Dr. Chris were classmates in dental school and married in 1992, one year before graduating. Dr. Mary has been practicing dentistry since 1993. She has practiced in Standish, St. Helen and Houghton Lake. Dr. Mary joined our staff in November of 2001. Dr. Mary is a co-founder of the Northland Dental Study Club. She is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association and the Michigan Dental Association. She has worked on the Michigan Dental Association's "Committee for Annual Session" as well as attending several continuing education classes and seminars. She is also a member of the Business and Professional Women of West Branch and volunteers as a tutor for Ogemaw County Council on Literacy. Dr. Mary recently graduated from the prestigious Las Vegas Institude for Advanced Dental Studies in Las Vegas Nevada.
