I am Betsy De Marchis of Fort Bragg, California. My four children and I operate Waters Edge Alpacas. Our small coastal community is in beautiful Northern California, an area where our young Alpacas thrive. The cool ocean breezes, the sun settling through the trees, make for a perfect home setting for our alpacas.
We have chosen this life with alpacas after several years of thought. They are indeed a tremendous investment and no one really knows if they will be raising that top stud, but it is a life of learning ... one we are enjoying to the fullest and would certainly do it all over again.
Nick is 17 years old. Olivia is 11, Cedar is 9, and Emily is 7. They all love and care for the alpacas. They learn while they work, whether it be haltering, feeding, or herding, it is all very hands-on and very healthy. In a day when a families schedule is so full, we have chosen a new and different lifestyle. Alpacas! They are our way of life. My children have their own page within this site.
