- Walter S. White Auto Parts is the oldest automotive aftermarket supplier in Alabama. We are owned and operated by the third and fourth generations. The company opened in 1925. Its first aftermarket lines were the Gabriel "Snubber" (forerunner of today's shock) and the Fox locking steering wheel. In the 1950's brake linings were replaced by the installer and bonded (or glued) onto the metal. Walter S. White sold Greyrock friction and was the first to market complete sets of riveted brake shoes produced in our machine shop. The machine shop focused entirely on fleets and machined or rebuilt individual parts as well as complete engines until 1969.
