1974 - 1988
Uwe Walter, today's managing director, laid the corner stone of Walter Graphtek GmbH in the early 70s when he started selling medical and industrial measuring instruments. Around 1980, this company began to develop its own products in cooperation with Hanover Medical College, Eppendorf University Hospital in Hamburg, Lübeck Medical University, and other university clinics. The products then developed were mainly stimulators, which were used as additional devices for neurological measuring instruments, and biosignal amplifiers, which were used for clinical experimental purposes. In 1986, the experience gained in this sphere resulted in the development of the Alpha-9. When first presented to the public at the German EEG-Society's congress in 1987, the Alpha-9 received a positive echo.
The Alpha-9 was a device for ambulatory recording and computer-aided evaluation of long-term EEGs. Signals were recorded analogue, and digitized for review and archiving. The new generation, Alpha-16-D, works completely digital.
