WA Billing was formed in 1978, by Mr A Billing, as a Sole Trader after the recession of the 1970's, when the introduction of computers meant that CAD/CAM technology was becoming affordable and CNC Machining was becoming the norm.
If you add to that the opening of the EEC the overall result was that large companies had to reorganise their format of working, some divided into smaller units, some shrunk as the competition for work grew, and some didn't make it all.
MR Billing set up in his trade as a Press Tool Maker with a few old machines. He kept life and sole together and his family for 10 years. Gradually he began to manufacture aluminium parts for the Hand Tool Industry, and then moved into other trades.
