Title

Arizona Boarding School, Independent Prep School, Arizona Boarding Schools - Verde Valley School

Description

VVS is a different kind of school, because it was founded in the spirit of anthropology. A Harvard graduate, Hamilton Warren studied anthropology. Following his experience in World War II, he became convinced education must help young people see beyond cultural boundaries.

Together with internationally renowned anthropologists including Margaret Mead and Clyde Kluckholn, civic leaders including Barry Goldwater, Bruce Babbitt and John Collier, and progressive educators Verde Valley School opened its doors in 1948 with sixteen students, a handful of teachers and a curriculum that combined challenging classroom study with field trips to Mexico and Native American reservations.

Today, it is home to 125 curious and tenacious adventurers. Here, inspired by the beauty of 157 acres in Sedona, students build strong academic skills, discover their individual talents, experience diverse cultures, and form life-long friendships with teachers and peers.
