He's dedicated his life to building the dreams of others. Now, after more than a quarter century in architectural design and engineering, Bill White and his wife, Pat, are watching their own dream unfold: It's called Village Woods: A 155-acre, 43-lot residential community on the shore of the Bay of Quinte.
The Whites conceived the village concept in 1985. Bill was an architect and engineer, Pat, the manager of a cytology department at MDS Laboratories. Enamored of the tranquility and long-history of life by the bay, the ambitious young couple from north of Port Hope purchased an expanse of land in Ameliasburgh Township, Prince Edward County. The plan was to develop the land - not into a slap-'em-up and sell-'em-off subdivision, but into a community that reflected the serenity of the surroundings.
