About Us
The Vicky Bodman Guitar Orchestra was formed in the summer of 1998. Within three months we had won the title of "Most Promising British Youth Guitar Orchestra" in a major competition. Many concerts, charity events and an exhausting tour of the Rheineland, Germany, followed over the next two years ending 2000 on a high note when the Orchestra won 2nd place for the best (open age) overall Guitar Orchestra.
In July 2002 we performed at the Royal Festival Hall, London as part of the Music For Youth Festival of Great Britain. This was an amazing experience for us, closely followed by a three day tour of Bath, including a superb concert in the city's beautiful Abbey. The high point for the Vicky Bodman Orchestra is undoubtedly winning the War Child Trophy for the Best Youth Guitar Orchestra Of Great Britain. A remarkable achievement for us!
2003 saw a number of big performances including the regional heats for Music For Youth competition. Charity concerts included rasing funds for CHAD, children's charity PACT and performing alongside other acts in aid of the Save The Grand Theatre Fund. November featured an International Guitar Foundation competition in which the Orchestra came second to a group from Germany. There we met world famous guitarist Roland Chadwick who performed for us in a concert later that year.
