- Volunteers for Development International was founded in 2001 by a group of volunteers who set out to bring the resources of the nation and the international community to the most deprived villages of Ghana. Although the cities of Ghana have resources, in the rural areas there is a severe lack of basic amenities such as electricity, water, social service centers, teachers, books and housing for teachers. Our goal is to use the energy and creativity of volunteers to improve life in the villages.
