Drawing on his experience working in his father's Toronto stamp store, Vance Carmichael ran his very first Mail Auction in November 1972. It consisted of 348 lots on one page in Linn's Stamp News. Over 200 sales later there have been many changes. What started as a 'one man show' now requires a staff of over fifteen full and part time employees to run seven auctions each year. The office space has expanded four times within the same building, and the address in Smithville has remained the same for twenty-five years.
