Description

Since 1976 more than 80,000 AIROMAX air cleaners have been purchased to improve the air quality in a wide variety of applications and/or comply with OSHA's industrial and commercial clean air standards. Nearly 9,000 autobody and welding shops have installed an AIROMAX air cleaning system.

In 1972 the federal government created the Occupational Safety and Healthy Act (OSHA) and organized a department that was to inspect the work sites for compliance. In the late 50's and early 60's electrostatic precipitators were introduced to the market as a means of removing airborne particulate from the air. A number of opportunists got into the business of manufacturing these products and opened a number of markets. The heavy pollutants present in the welding shops and autobody repair shops overwhelmed the precipitators and the frequency of maintenance was too expensive to justify. However, the precipitators did clear the air in these shops.

By 1976, three companies installed the then new "deep pocket bag filter" technology into the cabinets that housed their precipitators and began to market this new filtration technology to the welding and autobody shop markets. Eltron Corp., calling their bag filter unit "Airomax", was one of the three. Over the years Airomax developed a line of filtration products to accommodate industrial and commercial market applications. These units ranged from 500CFM to 60,000CFM. Frequent independent testing proved that the air quality where Airomax was installed always met OSHA's minimum air quality requirements for that facility.
