1963 Atlantic Ultraviolet Corporation was established as a New York Corporation on November 22, 1963 to assume operation of a predecessor company following the death of its owner/operator. The business started in Long Island City as a manufacturer of germicidal ultraviolet fixtures and equipment utilizing germicidal ultraviolet lamps to destroy bacteria, mold and virus in air and on surfaces.

germicidal lamp brand produced by Atlantic Ultraviolet Corporation are short wave low pressure mercury vapor tubes that produce ultraviolet wavelengths that are lethal to micro-organisms. Approximately 95% of the ultraviolet energy emitted is at the mercury resonance line of 254 nanometers.
