TWO HANDS FOUR PAWS -- Small Animal Massage & Rehab
Description
Two Hands Four Paws offers canine massage therapy, rehabilitation and swim therapy services. Massage therapy addresses a variety of health problems, the most prevalent in dogs being age related changes such as arthritis, disc disease and torn ligaments. Massage has been proven beneficial in treating a variety of problems from simple tiredness from over play, lack of vitality, convalescence and old age, to sprains, spasms, or recovery from surgery or broken bones. Massage helps to stretch and relax muscles and enhances performance by increasing range of motion. It also flushes out toxins that cause muscle stiffness and soreness and increases oxygen flow (a muscle spasm is a result of decreased oxygen). Massage is also proven to relieve muscle pain by releasing endorphins, improving circulation of blood and lymphatic fluids, and as a stimulant to enhance post-operative healing. Routine pet massage should go hand in hand with good nutrition and sufficient exercise. Lastly massage always improves disposition!
When an animal has suffered an injury or gone through surgery, gentle massage can be used to promote healing in the early days of the insult. Later on we can set up a massage, exercise and diet regimen to help bring the animal back to its former state of health. Swim therapy is often very effective in helping animals post surgery. This is especially true for animals with many forms of disc disease, including paralyzed animals. We have had great success in helping paralyzed animals regain function after swim therapy. Swimming works more muscle groups than land exercise and increases an animals' strength, cardiovascular system and range of motion. It reduces the stress on the joints, especially for overweight animals, and helps speed recovery.
