Save Our Stories Project
Starting at the 2001 Quilt Show, our guild has participated in the Quilters S. O. S. - Save Our Stories project. We conducted audiotaped interviews with participants in which they talk about their quilts and how quilting has impacted their lives. Participants are invited to bring a quilt that has special importance to them as a vivid beginning point for their stories. Paul Jones of Fort Worth photographed the quilt makers and their quilts as part of the project.
These tape-recorded interviews become part of the national Quilters' Save Our Stories (Q.S.O.S.) Project as well as being archived by the guild. Q.S.O.S. is devoted to capturing the history of the 20th and 21st century quilt making and quilt makers. The QSOS, a project of the Alliance for American Quilts, is currently housed at the Center for American Material Culture Studies at the University of Delaware.
