Diy HiFi Supply have been supplying vacuum tube amplifier kits for several years now. The heritage of these amplifiers stems from the Consonance (Opera Audio) line, whom you may have heard of in UK, USA and European Hi-Fi magazines. Consonance manufacture hi-end vacuum tube gear and have managed to establish a name for themselves over in the western world as producing high quality amplifiers built on quality chassis and components. Diy HiFi Supply started to supply products based on the commercial side of these Consonance units but in kit form with many upgrade options and tweaks for the DIY enthusiast. You may notice that some of the early kits with wooden front face plates are marked with the Consonance name, like the early Basie, and the striking similarity between the M500 and it's kit version 'The Billie', the Ella EL34 and the M100+ as just a few examples.
Diy HiFi Supply has since moved away from the Consonance 'feel and look' with the introduction of a new style for the amplifiers, notably the powder gray solid metal front face-plates. However, they have inherited the component quality and circuit design from their original parent. These kits are built on heavy duty solid metal chassis with traditional wound output transformers and chokes using paper and varnish. Many designs now surpass their original early kit versions, the Ladyday SET being a prime example. This amplifier for example is built around versatility with the option to use many tube types and upgrades taking it well beyond its original Billie guise.
