Israel Center for the Treatment of Psychotrauma: Help for trauma victims

Description

About Us - The Center

he Israel Center for the Treatment of Psychotrauma was established, as a project of the Herzog Hospital Latner Institute, by leading experts in the field in 1999, in order to improve the available services given to those suffering from psychological trauma in Israel. The UJA-Federation of New York has been a driving force and a major supporter in the development of trauma services at the Center and in Israel at large.

Today the Center is acknowledged as one of the outstanding treatment and training centers in Israel. The Center serves as a national and international source of information for both professionals and the lay public on psychotrauma. The center has initiated, together with the New York Jewish Federation, the establishment of the Israel Trauma Coalition, whose purpose is to bring together various institutions within Israel that deal with trauma, and to promote collaborative endeavors both in research and practice.

Focused, short-term treatment of trauma survivors: The Center's psychological staff has developed unique and efficient methods of treating post-traumatic symptoms caused by traffic accidents, domestic violence and violence in school, natural disasters, terrorist attacks, battle shock and more. This treatment is based on a cognitive-behavioral model and incorporates elements of both Exposure Therapy and Somatic Experiencing.
