- “These images take me in completely, so that it's not an ‘artifact’ I'm looking at but something that at first seems tantalizingly analytical, the hard straight lines pushing in that direction -- but at the same time not allowing any sort of narcissistic self-satisfaction -- something that takes me almost to the edge of sentimentality, but then it comes up against those hard edges, not just of physical lines but the blackness and whiteness -- that keeps it necessarily somehow ‘other.’ I'm not allowed to completely possess it, to neutralize it.”
