Pankhurst Tool & Die Co. has been a sub-contract supplier of tooling since 1951 A particular forte is high accuracy intricate work involving hardened tool steels and tungsten carbide, particularly those associated with the powder metal compacting industry. A particular speciality is producing accurate helical punches and matching helical dies. PTD are well equipped for wire eroding large tools and moulds.
The materials PTD are principally experienced in working with are a wide variety of tool steels, tungsten carbide, copper, brass, stainless steel, aluminium, nimonics and copper tungsten. PTD is very familiar with heat treatment processes and surface coatings and have on-site facilities for gas nitriding and tempering. All tools can be clearly marked with the material and the hardness specified. An inspection report can accompany the work done.
PTD manufacture down to tolerances of .0002" / 5 microns and typically work with tools between 1kg to 200kg, but can handle work up to 0.5 tons. Normal hours of work are 07.30 to 16.30, with some toolmakers on double day shift between 06.00 to 22.00, Monday to Friday + Saturday morning. Orders are typically shipped with a next day delivery service included in our prices for the UK and Europe. Manufacturing lead times will reflect customers' requirements, current workload at PTD, and the complexity of the job.
