There are several tonk lists but the two most of us use are both yahoo lists. If you have not joined a yahoo list before the best way is to create a yahoo name/ID. But when you do, do not also create a yahoo email address (which is a default setting during the process). Override the default and use your own email address. You can put some or no personal information in the yahoo profile but be sure and save the name and password.
Tonklist is a general purpose Tonkinese list which topics include the Tonkinese breed, show brags, and what is happening to the list members themselves. You don't need a Tonk to join - just an interest in participating in discussing the cats. It is a more social list than the next one.
TonkineseBreedAssociation list is a more specialized list which discusses only TBA business (as versed to more general issues related to Tonkinese) and as such is restricted to TBA members. Once you sign up, yahoo will notify you that it must verify that you are a TBA member to join. Yahoo will send a message to the moderator who will check the TBA roster to verify membership. The modifier will check and then approve your joining the list and yahoo will send you a note indicting you have been approved. There is no way for yahoo to do this verification automatically and it requires human processing by the moderator.
