This is the kind of morning that Earth was surely built for. I mean, if I were planning on showing my latest and greatest planet to a prospective client, I would submit the proper forms in triplicate to the Global Engineering Department at least two weeks in advance to make sure they have enough time to cool things off, dry up the humidity, put a fresh batch of hydrogen in the ol' heating and lighting plant, and generally shine everything up to a low gloss before inviting anyone over for a look-see. Nothing impresses a client more than walking out the door and feeling a cool, dry breeze on their skin and seeing all of Earth's bounty in its brilliantly sun-kissed splenor. Had I been in the market for a new planet and stumbled into Collingswood, NJ this morning, I'd be at the finance window right now, writing a check for the whole thing plus the extended warranty and matching floor mats.
Folks, we deserve this weather. We pre-paid for it last week with those near-100 degree days with matching humidity. Days when we would daydream about spending time in an equatorial rain forest dressed in full Amish black just to get some relief from our own weather!
Today I left the house feeling truly alive. Feeling hopeful. Feeling like nature itself was holding out its arms for me all morning, just waiting to pat my head, tell me I'm a good boy and send me on my way. As I stood on the PATCO platform I marvelled at the fact that I wasn't covered in a layer of my own sweat. The train got delayed for a good five minutes or so at 8th & Market, but I couldn't care less. I had a Billy Crudup interview to watch on my iPod, plus I knew what glorious weather awaited me when I would finally emerge.
