Helen Keller enunciated the importance of our mission and her words serve as our motto: "Speech is the birthright of every child, it is the deaf child's one fair chance to keep in touch with his fellows."
The parents and staff of Tucker-Maxon believe that the most effective means of teaching deaf children to talk is through an auditory-oral approach that respects and capitalizes on the interests, abilities, and needs of each child.
Each of our preschool and elementary classes are taught by a team of a regular educator, a teacher of deaf and hard of hearing children, and an experienced instructional assistant. Each class utilizes two classrooms and children are divided into small and large groups throughout the day. All the teachers are dedicated to blending their unique knowledge and skills to provide quality education for all children.
