TLEEAA.org - Texas Law Enforcement Explorer Advisors Association
Description
From a simple idea to bring together people involved with Law Enforcement Exploring to exchange ideas, a dynamic organization has grown in the form of the Texas Law Enforcement Explorer Advisors Association. In 1983, Officer Steve Farrish of the Irving (Texas) Police Department, then assigned to the Community Services Division and as the Advisor to the department's Law Enforcement Explorer Post, decided to call a meeting with representatives from police departments in the area that sponsored Law Enforcement Explorer Posts. The objective of this meeting was to allow Law Enforcement Explorer Advisors the opportunity to become acquainted with one another and to discuss Law Enforcement Exploring.
Representatives from the police departments of Dallas, Arlington, Irving, Carrollton, Grapevine, Garland, Forney and Terrell attended this meeting. The meeting proved to be very productive and informative. The members of this group, along with others as time went on, decided to continue meeting on a periodic basis. Eventually, after several years of such meetings, Officer Farrish suggested that an association be formed for the purpose of providing advice, training, competitions and other events for Law Enforcement Explorer Posts in Texas, and to help interested agencies form new Posts. The Texas Law Enforcement Explorer Advisors Association thus was formed and chartered in Texas as a non-profit, educational organization in January of 1989. The following individuals were listed as officers on the original charter documents for the Texas Law Enforcement Explorer Advisors Association.
Today, the Texas Law Enforcement Explorer Advisors Association (also known by the acronym TLEEAA) is a thriving organization that provides guidance, support, training and competitive events for Law Enforcement Explorer Posts and Advisors throughout the State of Texas.
