Fellow 'tin-ear' sufferers, when I have been able to view 'chats' about this affliction, I rarely see any mention of alcohol. I have suffered severe tinnitus for more than forty-two years. I tell everyone that booze does not lessen the ringing (closer to screaming, in my case), however, after three or four beer, "who cares, let the sucker scream'. Sleep also comes much quicker with liquor. Have been through two marriages and at least a half dozen 'live-in' companions. Have not hazarded a guess as to how those stats. may have altered if it was just the 'tin-ear' without the booze. Have sworn off the 'hard stuff', strictly beer. Will not drink prior to four p.m. and many days last one-half to an hour longer, depending on how agitating the volume is and mood of the day. Was warned many years ago to be careful vith volume. Christmas of '05 I was listening to 'Der Bingo' with the Andrews Sisters on the stereo, with headphones, of course. 'Oh come let us adore Him' was the song and I was still on the 'hard stuff' at the time. I cranked the volume into what must have been the 110 decibel level. The next morning the dear sisters were still singing the refrain 'adore Him' inside my right ear, in addition to 'the scream'. Several months later the Andrews ladies left 'the stage' and were replaced by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, or some choir of like numbers. They often sing in a south Pacific (or, something like that) language. Sleeping pills are out. They do more damage than the beer. Have seen two different medical studies that peg our 'self-destuction' rate at 'a whisker' below seventy-five percent. Whoa! Well, I see I have achieved 16:05 hrs. Think I'll crack a cold one. Take care.
