Title
Thomson Presbyterian Church
Description
Thomson Presbyterian Church was founded as a mission in 1939 by Rev. Sam Zealy. The first church building was completed in 1949. Thomson Presbyterian Church was the first, and still the only, Presbyterian church in Thomson, GA.
In the late 90's, the Sam Zealy Multipurpose building was completed. This large building with classrooms, full kitchen, and open meeting area was dedicated to the memory of Sam Zealy, founding pastor. In 2001, the Boswell Youth Building was dedicated. Jane Boswell, a beloved member of Thomson Presbyterian Church, devoted herself to the church and its youth.
The church is governed by a non-rotating Session, comprised of Elders, nominated and elected by the congregation. A Board of Deacons, also non-rotating, handles works of mercy, property management, and finances. In addition, several committees exist to assist and coordinate many of the ministries of TPC.
