Why?
Rock culture has a great following in the city of Lahore; this portal will cater to the passions of young undiscovered musicians to interact and share with old and new fans alike.
Is it a Strategic Goal?
It caters to the strategic goals in the following ways:
Personal Pages
Underground Musicians will be encouraged and helped in constructing Personal Pages
Usability
These bands amount to a sizeable number.
Logged in Users
These bands have a considerable following on fan pages on other domains. Hopefully, this page will increase trafficking for the same reasoning.(Bands will put their AboutUs pages links on other domains)
Seeding Content
Make an attractive portal page to provide incentives for new users to join.
Advertising Revenue?
If this project catches on, I am hoping it will, musical instrument shops around the city could be contacted and informed about advertising slots on the page.
Task Summary
- Make an attractive Portal Page
It is important to remember this page is catering to young people. An attractive portal page is the first step to attract them.
- Extracting Information
In it's initial stages I will personally be contacting individual band members to submit more information and content we can use to create the first blocks of the portal.(Notice:They have been excited enough to include their band names in Wikipedia!)
- Volunteer and Help
Staff members voluntairing and helping to make Personal Musician User Pages and Wiki Band Pages.
Step by Step Task
22nd August to 5th September
- Make an attractive main portal page.
- Contacting band members to extract information and to inform and welcome them to the portal in progress.
- Help Sections on each page on how to add and edit data.
- Easy and simple instructions (Young people are usually impatient and restless! Maybe displaying a step by step procedure with the help of an example)
- Add data to the portal as it is gathered.
6th September to 21st September
- Help to and make wiki band pages with the information gathered.
- Help to and make personal band member pages/user pages with the information gathered.
- Invite members to submit audio, video and picture files. (can't add audio right now)
- Help to upload the above mentioned files.
