Unreal Travels was established in December 2001 after another high-flying Internet start-up company I was working for finally closed her doors. After working 14 hour days for nearly 3 years straight, I was ready for a short holiday. I checked out the new Orbitz Web site and was able to book a flight from Minneapolis to Bangkok for about $700 RT. I had less than a week to pack my bags and plan my trip.
I knew very little about Thailand, other than a few stories one of my friends had told me. It had always been a location I wanted to visit, but never had the time or the money to do.
I set up the original Web site so I could get emails remotely and post a few stories and pictures from my trip. I made my first posting on December 7th at around 2:00 in the morning from a computer terminal located in the lobby of my guesthouse. Since then, I have made the trip several more times, posted several hundred times, uploaded a thousand photos and generally enjoyed the project.
