The Tara is a family owned business and was opened in May 1995. Two expansions later the Tara is now one of the biggest bars in Amsterdam - although it still maintains that special intimate and friendly atmosphere. After over seven successful years the Tara’s first priority is still to provide top quality food, drink, service and entertainment to its customers - regulars and first time visitors alike.
The Tardis-like Tara may look tiny from the street but visitors are always pleasantly surprised by its open and inviting interior.
The main hall features an interesting plasterwork sculpture - illuminated by a pair of flaming sconces. Leather couches an armchairs nestle in front of not one but two grand open fireplaces - a rare feature in Amsterdam. The latest expansion features a more contemporary look with impressive metalwork and four huge paintings by local graffiti artist “Juice”.
