- The program began in 1998 as a one-year educational program designed to improve the clinical skills of physical therapists working for Concentra Medical Centers in the central Texas region. During this course it became evident that a one-year program was not enough and the decision was made to develop the program into a part time fellowship program with its curriculum structured according to the AAOMPT guidelines. The program still has a contractual relationship with Concentra and primarily provides instruction to therapists employed by Concentra. However, therapists outside of Concentra also enroll in this program. Since its inception the fellowship program has expanded its institutional relationships to include a formal relationship with Texas State University for shared resources including faculty, space and other educational resources.
