The Kings Centre was opened in 2001 to provide a facility for the local community and the surrounding area. Occupying a prime location at the heart of Wigston, the Centre boasts bright, modern, purpose-built facilities, and is ideally suited to a wide range of uses by community groups and businesses.
The Kings Centre was developed through an active involvement with the local community by Meadows Community Church over a number of years. The Centre provides a multi purpose facility with maximum flexibility. An attractive environment, it is used by various groups within the local community for a wide range of activities.
With funding principally from Meadows Community Church but supported by various community organisations and funding schemes, the building, a redundant hosiery factory, was purchased in January 1997 and work began on converting it into The Kings Centre. The first phase of the project was opened in March 2001, followed by the opening of the nursery wing in September of the same year. Phase 3 will see the development of the first floor, providing additional rooms and facilities.
