About The Hideout
Women’s Aid has been working with women and children experiencing domestic violence for thirty years. Children and young people have told us again and again that they want more information about domestic violence that’s easy to read and understand. So, we created this site especially for YOU!
Who’s it for?
The Hideout provides help, information and support for children and young people – whether you’re currently living with violence, you’ve experienced violence in the past or if you know someone else going through it and you’re looking for help and information. We’ve included lots of information to explain what domestic violence is, how it affects you and where you can go for more help.
Children or young people?
We want as many children and young people as possible – both girls and boys - to use The Hideout. So if you’re younger (say, not yet 9 years old) there might be some information that’s more difficult for you to understand and if you’re older, then it’s possible you’ll find some language or examples a bit young for you. We’ve tried our best to give you information you can understand and relate to no matter what age!
