The Cypress Tree is an online community for the residents of the Cypress, Tx and the surrounding area commonly referred to as Cy-Fair. The Cy-Fair area is northwest of it's neighbor city of Houston, Tx. The Cypress Tree was developed to provide a central location for Cy-Fair residents to discuss their community and get to know their neighbors. The Cypress Tree was founded in 2006 by Cypress resident, Shelly Fagin.
- The abbreviation, Cy-Fair stands for Cypress-Fairbanks. The name comes from 1939, when the cities of Cypress and Fairbanks consolidated their schools to become the Cy-Fair ISD. The Cypress Fairbanks region is located northwest of Houston. The two main crossroads, FM 1960 at U.S. Highway 290 and at State Highway 249, are 21 miles from Houston’s central business district. This largely unincorporated Harris County region gains a strong sense of community from association with territory found within Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District’s boundaries. Jersey Village is an incorporated city located within the area.
