I've been dabbling with photography for many years. I have vague recollections of playing with a Kodak Instamatic as a child. When I was about 10 I got my first 'proper' camera: a Zenit-E with a Helios 58mm lens. It was basic and very heavy but it had me hooked from day one. I had to drop my films into the local chemist and wait a few days for the results (no 1-hour labs in those days!). The anticipation of slowly opening the envelope to see what had come out was almost unbearable. I dug my old Zenit out of the back of a cupboard the other day and it still works!!
For some reason I started taking pictures less and less after university. Then, about 2 years ago, I started again and it felt fantastic! A couple of big changes in the intervening years worked out very well for me. The first was the arrival of the digital camera. I don't like these very much but everyone else does, this means there is plenty of good quality 35mm camera gear available second hand. The second change was the arrival of the great god known as 'ebay'. This has allowed me to get my hands on some great bits of kit that would otherwise have been rather difficult to find.
