Description
Two years ago, four mothers met at a family and sibling support group for families whose children have cancer. Since then, we have shared stories, experiences, learned from each other, laughed and cried together. It is a journey none of us expected to take, but each of us has embraced. Last winter we had a vision and a goal to make this process easier for those new families just at the beginning of this journey. Circle of Care was born and our objectives were set in motion. In July 2003 we formed a new not-for-profit foundation under the sponsorship of the CT Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Circle of Care for Families with Cancer is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization created to provide support to families whose children are suffering with cancer. The foundation was started by a small group of families dedicated to giving others the benefit of their experience gained during the process of diagnosis and treatment. It continues to grow through the commitment of our volunteers with guidance from our advisory board of pediatricians, child psychologists and pediatric oncologists.
