Description
Temple Hill Baptist Church (THBC) was organized as the First Swedish Baptist Church back in 1883 by Swedish imigrants moving into the Cadillac area to work in the growing lumber industry. While largely an ethnic church for a number of years, the church changed its name and direction in the early 1930's, chosing Temple Hill Baptist Church.
The church has experienced several building programs over its history. The move to the present location was accomplished in 1972, with subsequent additions being completed in 1986, 1993, and 2001. The 1993 addition is our Family Center, which incorporates a full-sized gymnasium (used for AWANA, youth rallies & concerts, high school and church league basketball games, wedding receptions, and much more) and classroom space. The latest building project produced a newly renovated sanctuary.
Over the years, THBC has grown to over 330 members. Our affiliation with the Baptist General Conference gives us access to a full range of missionary and church-planting ministries around the world. Over the years, a large number from our membership have been sent out to serve all over the world as missionaries and as pastors of churches.
