On Wednesday, May 18, 2005, Tom Gallagher declared his candidacy for the Republican nomination for Governor of Florida. He offers a conservative agenda that includes protecting our seniors and families, expanding educational opportunities, creating a strong business climate, and strengthening families.
Tom has traveled the state, engaged in an ongoing conversation with Floridians about how best to lead our state forward. During this conversation Tom has announced six major policy teams, and four major policy announcements dealing with strengthening Florida’s families, enhancing public safety, expanding Florida’s economy, and reforming Florida’s court system.
A high school swimming champion, Chief Financial Officer Tom Gallagher left Delaware in 1961 and arrived in Florida with a partial athletic scholarship to the University of Miami. After graduation, Gallagher served in the "The Old Guard," the Army's prestigious 3rd Infantry in Washington D.C. After an honorable discharge, Gallagher returned to Miami and started a small business.
