Title
Tejas Native Bulbs - Experience the Beauty of True Texas Native Bulbs!
Description
My interest in native plants was spurred by the process of certifying my yard as a Wildscape through Texas Parks and Wildlife.
I was frustrated by the lack of availability of unusual and interesting native plants in the nursery trade. Most nurseries had the common native plants such as Mountain Laurel, Flame Acanthus, Lantana and various types of Salvias; but most overlooked wonderful plants such as the native plants in the Iris, Lily and Amaryllis families. This inspired me to create Tejas Native Bulbs, so I could offer the rare plants I could not find in the nurseries. I was further inspired by Scott Ogden's book, Garden Bulbs for the South. I realized that concentrating on a small niche of the plant business would allow me tap an underserved area of the market without having to compete with the large nurseries and home improvement centers.
We will continue to expand our inventory as we collect more seeds on our collecting trips but will continue to limit our offerings to plants that are indigenous to the State of Texas.
