Located at the southern end of West Grand Traverse Bay, Traverse City is the hub of a variety of educational,cultural and recreational opportunities. The Traverse City area is known for its spectacular natural beauty, the deep waters of Lake Michigan and rolling, wooded terrain interrupted by acres of orchards. Sport and outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy activities ranging from skiing and snowmobiling in the winter to cycling and water sports in the summer. There is a wonderful diversity of culture in the area. Residents enjoy the Traverse Symphony Orchestra; Dennos Museum Center; Old Towne Playhouse; Company Dance Traverse; City Opera House; Clinch Park Zoo; and Interlochen Center for the Arts, home to the renowned Interlochen Arts Academy and National Music Camp.

We are proud of the quality education offered by the Traverse City Area Public Schools, and are shaping our system to be even more effective in preparing our children to lead meaningful, productive lives. The Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS) includes 23 schools spread over 285 square miles in three different counties, a current enrollment of nearly 11,000 students, and over 1300 teaching and support staff members.
