Tampa Family Martial Arts Center was founded by Sensei Bob Bolton in February 2004. As an affiliate Dojo of the I.O.G.K.F, we adhere to the Hoshin of the organization, "To protect the tradition of Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate do as an intangible cultural treasure while promoting the art."
Our philosophy is and always will be to bring out the best in each student, and to continually "raise the bar". We do this in a progressive manner over time by challenging students to expect only the best possible personal performance in each and every class. Sensei Boltons rank is Nidan.
Sensei James Strange began studying Shotokan karate in Jerusalem, Israel, in 1993. In 1994 he took up Shorin-ryu, a cousin to Goju-ryu’s "hard-soft" style. In February 2005, Sensei James earned his shodan at the ASKA Winter Budo Camp in Virginia Beach, VA. Sensei James continues to study under Papa Paul Keller of the ASKA (www.aska-karate.org/index.html), and is training for his nidan.
