Tairua is a small seaside resort and fishing village on the east coast of the Coromandel Peninsula with a delightful harbour linked by two sandy white beaches. A headland island named Paku, which is joined by a sand dune, stands at the harbour heads. Tairua is a favourite holiday/vacation resort of many New Zealanders who have holiday homes around the harbour and on the surrounding hillsides.
