Welcome To Tairoa Lodge
Description
Excerpted from the website:
- Tairoa Lodge is one of the oldest remaining residences in the Hawera Township, situated on four hectares of land. Built in 1875 by Isaac Bayly (a successful local Butcher), the heart kauri timber in the house was barged down from Northland to New Plymouth and then transported by bullock wagon to Hawera. The original kitchen in the house was the butchery until 1903 when Isaac Bayly sold his very grand home to the Lovell family (local florists). The house remained in the family for 92 years until we purchased it in late 1997. Pat Lovell was born here and spent her child hood living in this house. She then married Jack Blyth and together they brought up their family of four here and developed a very successful florist and horticulture business.
