Description
The idea of Tabby Shacks™ was conceived on a beautiful August night in 1999 while vacationing in North Carolina on the Outer Banks. Now, nearly five years later, that dream has turned into a reality. My goal then was the same as it is to this very day – to transform the most unsightly item in your home into a decorative accessory, while making the cover a comfortable and safe haven for the end user – your cats!
I have worked with three corrugated cardboard manufacturers, three plastic corrugated manufacturers and five graphic artists. I did extensive research on cats and why some don't like covered litter boxes. Many feel threatened when there is only one way in and one way out. I confirmed that theory through test marketing.
My husband, Gary, has put up with endless amounts of cardboard, contact paper, and drawing paraphernalia all over the house, as well as having his carpeted garage filled with hand-made prototypes for over four years. Tabby Shacks was incorporated on my birthday in 2002, as a present from Gary.
