Title
Sylvan - The boat of Choice
Description
Sylvan has it's roots in a rural Indiana town named Wolcottville. The plant was located near Sylvan lake and began producing pontoon boats and small house boats in the late 1940's under the name of Sylvan Industries. It's founder, John Cripe managed a prospering business until he made the decision to sell in 1965. The new owner, John Graff changed the company name to Sylvan Marine at the time of purchase. Over the next several years Mr.Graff continued to refine the style of the boats being produced and to improve manufacturing processes. This cycle of improvement helped to fuel the spiraling growth of the company.
In the early 70's the company passed hands once again when Harold Schrock purchased the company from his son-in-law John Graff. In 1975 Sylvan started producing aluminum fishing boats and runabouts to expand beyond pontoon boat market. Over the years through leading edge innovations, sound manufacturing principals, strict attention to detail and a true commitment to meeting the needs of it's customers Sylvan has emerged as a leader in the boating industry. The company's main complex is located in the town of New Paris, Indiana. Thirty one buildings make up the complex putting approximately 1,000,000 square feet under roof and covering nearly forty acres of land. Sylvan also has plants in Minong, WI, Lagrange, GA and Stayton, OR.
Sylvan boats are praised as well built, luxurious and comfortable boats that perform in the top of their class, while offering features that are usually found only on more expensive models.
