Swell is the vision of Made Reken (aka Blacky) who is also the creator/designer of the Balinese surf wear brand Amphibia. Blacky has always wanted to open a restaurant and as he is originally from the nearby village of Pecatu he decided that the rapidly developing Bukit was the place to be. Swell took three years to build and outfit and opened in August 2005.
