- The Silicon Valley Mac User Group originally started in the early 1990s as the South Bay branch of BMUG (Berkeley Mac User Group), offering San Jose and Silicon Valley people a way to attend BMUG meetings without making the trek to the main meeting up in Berkeley. Around 1994 we settled down on the campus of Apple Computer thanks to the donation of meeting space by various Apple employees, where we’ve been ever since!
