Silicon Valley Gay Men's Chorus

Mission Statement

The mission of the Silicon Valley Gay Men’s Chorus is to strive for musical excellence and provide a productive social fellowship for its members. We are an organization of diverse men dedicated to maintaining a high sense of personal and collective pride, promoting fellowship within the Silicon Valley gay and lesbian communities, and winning the respect and admiration of all people through musical performance.

The Silicon Valley Gay Men's Chorus (SVGMC) was originally called the Liedermann Gay Men's Chorus of San Jose. A group of ten men formed the chorus on June 29, 1983. The chorus sang its first full-length performance under the direction of Robert B. Welton on June 16, 1984 as part of San Jose's Gay Pride Celebration.

The chorus has made numerous appearances in the Silicon Valley as well as the GALA Festivals in 1989, 1992, 1996, 2000 (co-host) and 2004.
