About the Institute

The New Zealand Institute of Surveyors Inc. is one of two bodies that monitors the conduct of professional Surveyors in New Zealand. The other body is the Cadastral Surveyoes Licensing Board that replaced the Survey Board of New Zealand in 2002. The Institute is an incorporated society Until 2002 the Survey Board and the Institute were constituted under the Survey Act 1986.

The Institute is concerned with the professional and ethical conduct of Surveyors while the Licensing Board is primariliy concerned with maintaining a high standard of competence of Surveyors dealing with land boundary surveys.
