Sunderland Period Homes began as an 18th century building restoration company involved with every facet of restoration of the New England colonial home: from sill and frame repair to the restoration and reproduction of period correct detail. Through consistent study and extensive research of period architecture and over 30 years of hands on construction, which includes the dismantling and reconstruction of early buildings, we have gained immeasurable experience and expertise in our field of work.
In order to provide the components necessary for our restorations, such as doors and doorways, windows, crown mouldings, raised paneled walls and corner cupboards, we dedicated our millwork shop to faithfully reproducing these items to the exact specifications of their original construction methods, hand-planing and pinning, mortise and tenon joinery, dovetailing and hand carving; today, as always, we remain passionate about the accuracy of proportion and detail of original 18th century work.
In the 1970’s we pioneered period authentic kitchens, designed specifically for use in our restoration projects and reproduction homes, expanding our product line to include this service for homeowners throughout New England.
