SUN MOTOR GROUP is one the fastly expanding group of companies in Indonesia whose mainline of business is automotive dealerships. Success has come through giving customers a quality product at a reasonable price. The principles of maintaining quality and giving value have guided our diversification into other areas such as motorcycle, financial service, property as well as manufacturing wooden and plastic products. For more than 20 years, our principles have effectively guided us through the expanding consumer durable markets of this country, and they will continue be the key in our future.
The SUN MOTOR GROUP was founded in Solo in 1972 by Mrs. Imelda Sundoro, the company?s current Chairman, UD Sun Motor as it was called then pioneered the provision of automobile credit facilities in the Central Java area. For the past 20 years the SUN MOTOR GROUP has kept a costant and solid growth towards development.
The company commenced its growth by opening showrooms in Solo, Jakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar,Bandung, Semarang, Medan and other major cities in Indonesia during the seventies and onwards to the early nineties. The establishment of Suzuki dealership in Jakarta in 1988 followed by Mitsubishi cars and trucks for the Central and East Java markets in 1989 marked an era of boundless expansion in the group. In 1992, the Motorcycle Division and Finance Division were established followed by the property and manufacturing sectors in 1993. The regional economic crash has halted the growth of the company in the late nineties; however, the company managed to survive the worst economic recession in Indonesia by maintaining its commitment to continually giving quality and value to its customers. During the year 1999 alone 3, 854 units of automobiles and 5, 371 units of motorcycles were sold, creating a sales turnover of over IDR 524 billion on our IDR 333 billion total asset. This rapid growth in sales has paved the way to another major development in the group, the Hotel Chain. 1996 sees the completion of the 142 rooms Novotel Hotel located in the heart of Solo.
